New Mario board game has released. Supposedly it is pretty fun if not a simple game.

Dice Tower has a review of it, supposedly it is based on a previous game, King Me. It got a seal of approval from Dice Tower.

We've been playing Mechs vs. Minions a lot lately. Amazing production values, and super fun game! I love co op stuff like this.

Never got the chance to play Mechs vs Minions, I own it but it is still in the spare room (which we had to fill up again with storage stuff so no more game room). I've heard great things about it.

Here is a how to play video of it. It is basically a co-op game where you "program" your moves at the beginning of the round with some modification allowed as you play. If I recall they give you a time limit to program your moves which also helps with "alpha" gamers who can sometimes ruin co-op games by telling others what to do.

"Level-up"? Seems more fitting for an RPG series!

It's a "card programming" style game, I guess? That's what my board-game friends say, I think. It's a 4-player co-op romp that is probably the most over-produced board game I've ever played/seen. Overproduced in the sense of "They can't possibly be making a dime on this thing, it's too well crafted." AND it's fun, so win-win.

Highly, highly recommended.

Yeah they pretty much said they aren't making any money on it, that it is a way to advertise the video game itself. When developing the game they were serious about making the best game possible so they asked various board gaming reviewers/designers about advice. Definitely a labor of love overall.

Anyone have any games they're hoping to get for Christmas or buy for themselves this Christmas season?

My future mother in law asked me to make a Christmas list and my sister asked too. So I compiled one that ended up being pretty long. It'd be nice if I ever owned any of this stuff. Obviously they're not even obligated to buy anything. That said, my board game list was hella long... and my video game list was hella short. Then again, I actually keep up generally with the latter throughout the year. Here's (in no real particular order) my list;

Kodama: The Tree Spirits
Carcassonne: Amazonas
Survive: Escape From Atlantis 30th Anniversary Edition
Formula D
Dead of Winter: Crossroads
Pandemic: Iberia
Ghost Fightin' Treasure Hunters
Lanterns: The Harvest Festival
Terraforming Mars
Cards Against Humanity's Fifth Expansion and the Green Box
Zooloretto (a game I could have bought at MRSP with Joe once but declined due to cash constrains)
Kingdomino
Magic Maze
The Networks
Burger Up

Meanwhile, that gaming segment is...

Metroid: Samus Returns
Xenoblade 2
eShop cards.

Well, a new 3DS/2DS XL would be there but I have it on good authority someone is already trying to work that one out.

Anyone play any of the above board games? What are your favorites of the bunch?
