I'm letting my wife play Yooka Laylee first. She doesn't play a lot of games but this is right up her alley and since I'm still exploring Skyrim and have 2 other games to get to I'm content watching her play and enjoy it vicariously.

She's only maybe 1 or 1 1/2 hours in at the most.

Very charming, very beautiful, and very Banjo Kazooie-ish (no surprise).

Glad to hear some positive things, since there's been a lot of negativity! I will eventually play this, and hopefully just enjoy it for what it is and not what it isn't. :)

At worst, it will make me appreciate the magic of Banjo Kazooie even more than I already do.

How are you still exploring Skyrim, lol. Hasn't it been like years and years??

Nope, they've been radio silent. I've emailed them, tweeted them, etc. Nothing.

Which is a shame, because I feel like if they even gave us a WINDOW (Holiday, Summer, whatever) we could feel like we weren't being totally ignored as Nintendo fans.

Thing is that if it does poorly we may not even see a Switch version.

I don't think it would be cancelled for Switch if it didn't do that hot. But I also could be living a pipe dream.

So how has the game been doing since its launch? Any word on the overall perception and/or sales?

Don't know about sales, but perception has been a mixed bag. The general consensus it seems is "This game is stuck in time" whether that be good or bad in your view. It doesn't take what has been learned since the N64 days and apply it, but it also doesn't mess with what people loved in the N64 days. So... I dunno.

As for cancelling a Switch version, I don't know if I have enough energy left in me to care after they did that for the Wii U version, but I imagine if it happened that would be the final nail in the coffin for any relationship between me and Playtonic going forward. That would be the end of that.
